Dear World:

Yes, “Back to the Future” was released on July 5th (3rd, in some places). Well done.

BUT.

The ACTUAL DATE in the movie is OCTOBER 26TH. (There’s a screenshot doing the rounds that has a July date photoshopped in - correct screenshot can be found here.)

It’s supposed to be set in the present day (for 1985, anyway); but they hadn’t counted on it being ready for release so soon, hence the choice of date. (Which means that audiences were kind of watching the future, which is kind of awesome!)

So, people of Twitter/Tumblr, I beseech you:

For the love of all that is sweet and fluffy, STOP RETWEETING those random “zomg doc says to set it 25 years into the future and that’s today LOL” posts. Every time you do it, a bunny dies. Do you really want the blood of countless innocent bunnies on your hands?
